4 SIMPLE PROCESS TO FOLLOW

Pre-Treatment

Water is first passed through screens to remove large particles. Then, it undergoes pretreatment processes including coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation to remove suspended solids, and sometimes carbon filtration to remove organic contaminants.

Desalination

The most common desalination methods are Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Distillation. RO uses high pressure to force water through semi-permeable membranes, leaving salts behind. Distillation involves heating the water until it evaporates, then condensing the steam back into liquid, leaving the salts and minerals behind.

Post-Treatment

After desalination, the water is often devoid of minerals that are beneficial or necessary for human health. Thus, it may undergo remineralization, where minerals like calcium and magnesium are added back. The pH may also be adjusted to ensure the water is not corrosive.

Distribution

Purified water is pumped into storage tanks and then distributed through the water supply network. It may also be bottled at this stage for commercial sale.
